The Voices from Small Places approach focuses on the vernacular or commonplace buildings, structures, and sites that comprise the landscape of rural communities. resources representing the rich history of Arcadia. A historic resource survey is done to record all above ground structures such as houses, barns, cotton gins, dipping vats, schools, etc. Each resource, regardless of age, is recorded photographically as well as by using a survey form. All documentation is done from the public right-of-way unless we have owner permission to enter the property. Cemeteries are documented using the Texas Historical Commission's "Historic Texas Cemetery Request for Designation" form. Although the community may decide to not submit the request for designation, this form is the most comprehensive available and provides the community with the beginning of a preservation plan should it decide to move forward with designation in the future. Due to the large number of documented resources, it is not practical for us to post the materials on this website, however all of the photographs and survey forms of our historic resource surveys are available on the CRHR Historic Resources Surveys website.
